ArcadeVGA - No Output from VGA
« on: December 13, 2008, 11:17:08 pm »
hello,
i have a wells k4900 monitor and an arcade VGA board.

It seems like there is no output from the 'vga' output on the board. to ensure my monitor and cable were spliced correctly, i attached the VGA breakout cord to the DVI output (with the adapter) and activated PowerStrips Arcade monitor setting (640x480i). the arcade monitor shows the desktop however it is a bit grainy with a black bar in the middle splitting the desktop image (and not very vibrant). however it confirms the monitor is workign and a signal is being output.

on the other hand, when i connect the arcade monitor OR the LCD panel to the VGA output on the AVGA card, nothing is displayed. it seems like nothing is being outputted.

is there some kind of 'on' i am missing for this port? in the display properties it shows the vga (arcade) port as display #2 at 640x480 however not connected (even if i force the connection by right clicking and saying 'connected').

is display one supposed to be the DVI port or the VGA port on the card?

does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix.

kind of a killjoy when i hook up everything, format the PC for the cabinet and configure the software only to discover this issue.

PS: i already emailed Andy at Ultimarc however not sure if he is there for hte holidays (note on front page).

thanks for whatever insight you can offer.

Andy kindly pointed out you cannot have anything in the DVI port while trying to output to the arcade monitor.

Just to clarify the above, this only applies before Windows starts. When Windows is running and configured, you can run both a VGA and arcade monitor at the same time.
