Author Topic: Help de-casing Mag Monitor!?  (Read 1735 times)

Help de-casing Mag Monitor!?

I've got a Mag DJ920 and I've removed it from the plastic case.  There were 2 copper plates (strips) attached (with glue/tape) to the plastic casing.  One on the top, one on the bottom.  BOth have wires running to the inside of the monitor.  The glass itself has 2 pieces of the same copper at the top and bottom of the monitor.  What do I need to do with the two strips from the case?  I'm not sure what to do , as it's sparked once (I powered it off / unplugged quickly, however the sparking did not affect the picture.)

I didn't decase the monitor while it was plugged in.  It was sitting there doing nothing then sparked.  I decased it, installed it, plugged it in, turned it on, about 30 seconds later it sparked.  I shut it down, fiddled with stuff, turned it back on to see if it was dead, it wasn't and it hasn't done anything since.

ah, cuz u said after it sparked you unplugged it, but anyway...u probably shorted something out somehow, i dunno much about monitors sorry

Ha... easy fix...  the two scary strips were to help ground the tube etc...  They weren't touching properly, so I re-attached them and used a little electrical tape.  NO MORE PROBLEMS!!! WOO!  The sparking was caused by static buildup on the tube jumping to the copper strips.
