Marquee question

Hello all,
I am working on my first arcade machine build and have a friend in the sign and printing business that I am going to have make all of my art work and my question is, What type of material are marquees made from? and can that type of material be purchased in blank sheets so I can have the graphics made for it and where can I purchase it from?

I'm not sure what it is called, but my MK marquee is printed on a thin translucent plastic...
