legend of makai - worth restoring?
« on: November 29, 2008, 04:25:44 pm »
I have aquired a legend of makai by jaleco the monitor is dead and the cabinet needs some work(mainly all around the bottom) but the jamma board is working. would this be worth the restoring because i am very tempted to slap in a lcd monitor and an itx motherboard.

It's a conversion.  Let's still see some pictures.

As soon as i can take some decent photos i will post them its currently stored in a family members garage since i live in an apartment. i got it ,a karate champ(bad shape the marquee is the best part), and one other(can't think of the name right now-same shape as karate champ) for practically nothing.  I was planning to turn it into a mame machine with a 19" lcd and keep the original artwork(found replacements on ebay) and the marquee.

.....that can't be what it looks like, can it?

edit: I spoke too soon, it does not actually appear to be a burgertime (my first thought)

as soon as you said food fight though...i could see the little guy holding up the pie immediately...

here a a few pics of the cabinets these were mainly to remind me of the names and the control panel layouts, so i didn't take many pics of the cabs themselves.

Sorry but judging from the screen shots of Makai, it's a TERRIBLE game. So no, not restore worthy. However, it's surely a conversion so let us see more shots of the cabinet itself. We'll tell you what the cabinet used to be.

I figured as much i will try to get to it this week end to get more pictures but the shape is a lot like that super cobra with the stern name on everything.  I am thinking of just shaving off  about 4 " of the bottom were the wood is starting to splinter and and some off the back, then put a 19" lcd, a mini-itx motherboard and turn it into a mini mame(simple 2-4 button games)/jukebox.

i thought food fight or burgertime, the angle is funky.

I think you'd be fine converting your cab to whatever you want even *gasp* MAME!

No no, Burgertime is more like an early Namco cab but with 'ears' that are the chef's hat on each side.

yeah I know, it was the "bumps" at the top that caught my eye, then I looked at the rest of the cab and knew it was a food fight
