Custom Bezel and CP Art
« on: November 18, 2008, 04:18:14 pm »
BEZELS:
Due to the fact that I often use a computer crt monitor on my conversions, the original bezels no longer work/match up.

CP OVERLAYS:
Additionally, since I prefer to use the Street Fighter 2 CP layout, the original artwork overlays no longer work either.

PROBLEM + CURRENT SOLUTION:
Cosmetically, my control panels and bezels are boring. My CP overlays end up solid black, and I get a black vinyl cut-out adhered to the back of my glass for a bezel (by a local print shop, cause they get zero bubbles when they do it).

So the most user interfaced area (CP and Monitor) is just black. Instead, I'd like to adapt original artwork to fit the new dimensions/layout of the mame conversion...

I'd like to begin this process w/ Ms. PacMan. I have a cab that has been converted already (w/ the black CP and bezel). Since the original monitor was a 19" vertical, and I installed a 20" Horizontal crt, some slight changes need to be made. And, since the CP now has 2 joysticks and 14 more buttons than before, that will need some working to.

Basically, I'm asking 2 things:
1) Has anyone ever done this before (either this exact art or some other original art adaptation they would like to share)?
2) Can anyone supply me w/ the graphics/images necessary to do this? I don't have either the bezel or the cp overlay, so I can't even begin right now...

I know I'm not the first person to desire this. So, please, if you know of any good websites, etc that I should check out, feel free to direct me to one.

Thanks

Ok. So I found the Ms. Pac bezel and overlay at the arcade art library. (http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/index.php)

I guess this site is exactly what I was looking for. Please let me know if there are others like it!!!
