Hi!
I have a WG 25" monitor mounted in a MK2 cab that is showing some distortion at certain resolutions. The top 2 inches of the screen are "compressed", to the point that the scanlines have merged. There is a pretty clear border where the scanlines "decompress" and the rest of the display is perfect.
Could this be caused by electrical interference? Sometimes the distortion at the top of the screen gets worse when I'm moving around the pc in the cabinet. However I can still observe this video distortion with the PC turned off and my I-Pac disconnected from the monitor.
Sometimes when turning on the arcade machine or switching resolutions, there is no apparent distortion; but then it slowly reappears after a few seconds or minutes.
I've read in FAQ's that monitor distortion at the top of the screen is indicative of a faulty cap kit.
I'm (justifiably?) terrified of electrocution so I'm not willing to tinker with the monitor myself. How much should I expect to pay a monitor technician (from a local arcade shop/distributor) to come by and take a look at and fix my monitor?
Sorry for the long-winded post, but I wanted you all to be armed with the most information. I'm desperate to repair my baby!!
