33" Sharp Image - Streaking Whites to the Right
« on: November 06, 2008, 01:29:33 am »
Hey guys,

I have a 33" Sharp Image monitor that has two issues:

1) White appears to be streaking across the screen to the right... the left side of the screen is rather dark, the right side of the screen appears substantially brighter. This problem has started in the past two months gotten progressively worse.

2) There are geometry issues with the screen, it's pinched, almost like an hourglass. As far as I could see, there was no pincushion adjustment either on the remote or on the board from what I could tell.

Any ideas what could cause this? I'll try to get a picture in the next couple days uploaded.

Thanks,
-K

sounds like an electrolitic capacitor is leaky causing the the shading problem, may even be causing the pincushion problem
if a cap kit is available for this monitor then get one as it may cure all your problems

the hour glass effect is called pincushion, there should be an adjustment on the main board either marked as pincushion or spc

other things that cause pincushion problems are the east/west correction diodes leaky, error in width circuit

contact this person to advise on availability of a cap kit for your chassis
