Question on MAME.
« on: November 04, 2008, 11:28:14 am »
I have MAME and MALA both up and running smootly, but I noticed on some games, the games take up about 95% of the screen. I've got a little border on the left hand side. The two main ones that do this are KI and KI2. Is there a way to change the position of the screen through the MAME config? I'm using the Binary version of MAME, I believe its version .105.

What display conditions are you running Mame under?

... MAME, I believe its version .105.

A two and a half year old version of mame; lots of possible issues that I'm not as up-to-date (or should that be "back-to-date" ;)) with.  I'll list a few, but without more info, I'll be just swinging in the dark, and the suggestions could be wrong for your set up.  Heck, some are direct opposites:

A. switch mame to use direct3d, instead of directDraw.  (IIRC, that's video option, check in the docs folder for more version matched details)
B. switch mame to use ddraw, instead of d3d.  (hey, I can't tell which you're using without more info ;), could be either one, depending on the rest of your system)
C. disable switchresolution and force mame to use the desktop res (d3d is better for this that ddraw)
D. enable switchres and force mame to use a different res that fits your monitor better than mame's currently selecting.
E. upgrade you mame, and as needed ROM sets, to a more current mame (you might have speed issues, though.)

As Ummon asked, what's your setup: mame.ini, video card, OS, CPU, monitor type and res, etc?  We might be able to help more.
