need a coleco emulator virtualcoleco will not work

I have a whole bunch of colecovision roms and i downloded virtual coleco but all my roms are .com and not .rom so it will not recognize them? any ideas why??

did you try renaming them?
also the coleco emulator in mess works ok...just a bit special commandline...mess.exe coleco -cart mygame.rom
