PSP 3000
« on: October 31, 2008, 04:22:15 pm »
Hey just a few questions.  I am looking to get a PSP and have been reading about the newer version (3000).  Is it really worth it?  Can it be flashed? The screen shots look better but I know screen shots can be misleading.

My thoughts were to just get the Star Wars version but if the 3000 models are way better, why not spend a little more money.............

Any thoughts?

I thought there were widespread problems being reported with the displays for the 3000.

Don't have a link though.

the screen on the psp 3000 is suppose to be better. Ive seen side by side pictures of the 2000 and 3000 and the 2000 looks really washed out. Personally though Ive never really noticed washed out colors in my psp 2000 so im thinking like you the pictures are badly exagerated.

I dont know anyone that has flashed the newer model. It seems any of the slim models can be a pain to flash. To my knowlege the best psp to flash is the old school fattys.

if you dont have a psp I guess the 3000 would be ok but if one already owns a psp I dont see it being worth the upgrade.

Try googling "psp 3000 screen problems" and you'll be buried under a mountain of hits.

Here is but one.

yup, the PSP 3000 screen introduces scanlines and it's a pretty severe problem from the looks of everything I've read so far.  To be fair though, I haven't seen one in person.

It's also nothing that can be "fixed" as its 100% a hardware issue.  It also currently cannot be flashed as far as I know.  Sony disabled the Pandora battery hack on the 3000 and has made some other minor changes that has stopped all hacking processes so far.  My guess is the scene will get around that sooner rather than later, but it's not an option right now.

Personally if I needed another PSP, I'd look for a PSP Slim, model 2000.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.
