Having Zinc Prob...
« on: June 16, 2003, 05:55:07 pm »
I'm having a prob with Zinc....

I run an I-pac with the mame config, and can't use the Player 1 side of my cp becuase Zinc has Ctrl and Alt set as function keys.... ::)

Do any of the Zinc Fe's or does anyone know the command line or if there is one to disable the function keys?

It sucks to only be able to play on the 2p side.... :P

You need to use a different rendered.  I think there is a Glide & Direct3D one - which ever one you are using, change to the other (I can't remember which I use).

I use Aldo's (ZiNc) FE to setup ZiNc (including controls).  I then use my FE to actually launch+play :)

PS I think P2 button 6 doesn't work properly (bug)

Hey i'm very interfested in getting a fix for this as well. I want to run zinc bad on my mame cab but those damn left shift ,left control and space are causing me big problems.Did you find a way to get a controller plug in to fix this?  because they are function keys does the entire zinc exe need to be remapped?

The latest versions of the renderer's have a "disable renderer keys" option.  It will fix these issues.

I remapped the controls on the IPAC to be more Zinc (and NFL Blitz PC) compatible.
Then created a custom controller.ini file to fix up MAME.

exactly!  those config files are made buy the gui, there is no such thing as a config file as far as zinc is concerned, although it can read settings for a text file.

Well i'm pretty sure ZincGui imports those .cfg files,  and lets you modify them (but ZincGui version I have -- doesn't allow for your to change that keyboard setting via the gui)... I'm *guessing* that the FE's/config util that tyweed is using is ignoring or overwriting that option or ???

*shrug* Like I said... it worked for me... I extracted the new d3d plugin.. edited the cfg file and set that parameter to 0 saved it.  fired up the gui double checked I was using the correct renderer, and ran the game and much to my surprise I was able to play as Jun and kick kick kick my way to victory...

Well I d/l'd the newer version of Zinc Gui and got the Render Key checkbox that howard mentions, which makes everything happy....however as mentioned above button 6 on the 2p side dosen't work... :-\    I think it may be a bug as mentioned above.

Yeah that's a well documented bug, but you asked about renderer keys.  :)  One question at a time young one.
