soft15 problems with GeForce Card
« on: October 25, 2008, 04:18:35 pm »
When putting the card through a candy cab that displays an ati 9200 series card PERFECTLY, 2 Geforce cards I've tried (AGP 420 MX GeForce 4, AGP FX5500 GeForce 5, Forceware 90 something) will display but the image is way intense, sort of way too neon/bright/bold, and tweaking monitor & card settings I never get a realistic looking picture.  Am I missing something?

I'm using the INVIDIA control panel.

I havent tried the monitor optimization wizard yet, going to tonight.

And yes, both cards look fine on a standard PC monitor.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys

What's the make/model of the monitor?

Are you using a video amp?

Too intense??  No way. Just turn down your brightness, yo.

SOLVED - turns out my PC was setup for USB keyboard only, I was going in with keyboard/Ps2 connection, switched to USB cable (using a JPAC) and the weird color thing corrected, everythings PERFECT, actually looks better than the ATI picture, swhheeettt.

Thanks guys, sorry to trouble:)

I'm curious, why would there be difference in color between an Nvidia and ATI graphics card?

When we are talking about MAME the cards are equal when displaying 16 bit color and low resolution graphics as long as they both support it.  They are literally displaying the exact same picture.  So why would one card look better than the other?

I'm assuming that both cards have perfect signal quality on their output, just like every other graphics card.  Now, if we were talking about S-Video output, that might be different story.  But here it seems that they both should be outputting the same RGB picture to whatever monitor you have once you have them set up correctly.
