If you didn't know already, the Sega Nomad was a portable Genesis that Sega released back in 1994. It had a full 6 button layout, fairly large screen, and ate through 6 AA batteries in about 5 hours. You could get a rechargeable battery pack for it, or use the ones from the Game Gear, but I want to try fashioning up my own. Could I possibly take an existing rechargeable battery back, wire it to work with a Nomad, and still extend the battery life? The way I see it, I could probably also use C batteries, but I like to think that the Nomad is heavy enough. :D

check how many volts it needs and then get some resistor's to break down the voltage to the level that is needs.

battery size's have differnet voltage's but all you need to do is say it was 9V input but you have 12V output to it well that straight up would fry something but if you added a resistor between the points it will break them 12V dwon to the safe 9V it requires.

also family dollar has 4 rechargable AA with charger made by energizer for $9.99

I bought some sony 2800's and the lasted 4-5 hours on a wireless 360 controller and they were dead after a full charge.

these enegizer battery's I played 2 week a few hours a day and the same pair are still going strong from the initail charge and they were on 2100's

I have tried all the different 360 battey packs official and 3rd party and they all suck compared to the life of these.

It is certainly possible if you can find a pack with matching voltage and amp rating.  Or you could make your own, but that's pretty much what 6 AA batteries actually are.  For all that effort you may as well buy a couple sets of rechargeable AAs.  The Nomad eats batteries like Homer eats donuts but a decent set of NiCads will work pretty well.

The specs I have found show that the Nomad draws 850 mA at 9 Volts DC. If that is correct, then you are already doing damn good to get 5 hours out of AA's considering you should theoretically only get 3 hours max with 2500 mAh batteries.  ;)
