Button questtion Mini pac or u360 button use
« on: October 09, 2008, 04:06:41 am »
I have the ultrastick 360 and a mini pac

which one is the best to use for mame and emulators for the buttons.

easiest for me is to use the u360 for action buttons(7 button per person) and mini pac for some admin buttons

is the mini pac better for action button in any way of configuration / usage / responds or the u360 buttons

and i am considering flipper / plunger buttons, do i make separate buttons for this or connect them to p1 first action button etc..

after using the search more  :hissy: i came to the conclusion

use u360 and wire the 7 buttons to them + 1 for player 1 start

and use the mini pac for pinball and admin and coin buttons.

The U360 buttons have a shift feature that eliminates the need for dedicated admin buttons if you want to save money.   There are pros and cons with both options, and I don't think either one is better than the other.

My opinion: If you have 7 dedicated action buttons per player and you want a separate coin door and start button, you'll probably want to go with an encoder (e.g. minipac).  Shifting for "coin" or "start" is a pain.

I see you already came to that conclusion, though.  Just wanted to add something to it nonetheless.
