Wells-Gardner U2000 Vs K7000/K7400 Series
« on: October 08, 2008, 08:03:58 am »
I currently have a borked K7191.  Possibly the flyback, but I was told $60 for the part + labor.  I don't know if there is anything else wrong with it though.  I figured I would go get a 7424 for $245 and it'll be brand new with a warranty.

Now someone tells me his buddy is selling a standard resolution 25 U2000 monitor.  I cannot really find specs on any of these.

Does anyone have a resource or know off-hand the differences?

I would LOVE to have the brand new monitor but the U2000 which is in good working order is half the cost.

I would appreciate any help, thank you.

U2000 is standard resolution and does not need an isolation transformer. This model was discontinued a long time ago because of it's many problems. It was replaced by the K7400 series (also standard res, no isolation transformer).

I don't know about you, but whoever quoted you $60 to buy a flyback for a k7000/k7191 must not know where to buy them. They're only $20 at Zanen Electronics and Bob Roberts.

That's for parts and labor, Ken.  Which isn't terrible.  But he could save a bucketload of cash if he replaced it himself.

thinking about it I don't know if I want to replace the flyback.  Might as well just sell it for a couple bucks to someone who wants to mess with it and buy a new one.

Way away from me.

Sure you don't want to give it a shot?  It's pretty easy.  If you've never soldered before, practice on something you don't care about first.

I may try it.   I will get a new monitor eventually I feel because it would ease my mind knowing it's new with a warranty

Heh...warranty on most coin-op stuff isn't that long.

K7000 is a good monitor.  I'd take one of them over a POS new WG any day.
