Finding 5/8'' Wood in Minnesota
« on: October 04, 2008, 05:14:09 pm »
This is a question for any cabinet builders in Minnesota, preferably in the twin cities area.  I have been having a dickens of a time trying to find either 5/8" Hardwood around here.  The local lumber yards I have called do not have it.  I'm wondering if there is anyone that has found it in the area.  And if possible, I would prefer not to buy it in 4'x8' sheets.  Too much wood that I won't be using.....at least for a while.

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea if they carry 5/8" Hardwood, but have you tried Shaw Stewart Lumber in Saint Paul?  They delivered 5/8" MDF to my front door (in St Paul) for free (the delivery that is, not the MDF).

But that was also in sheets of 4'x8'...

5/8" wood is no longer shipped to Minnesota because of it's harboring of A Prairie Home Companion and associated cast.

Texflood - Thanks for the tip, but I all they had was the 4'x8' and that is just too much for only a CP.

gothroughthegate - I was a bit worried about what that would look like, but after seeing yours, I went out and picked up a 2'x4' sheet of particle board.  Drilling, cutting, and routing it tonight.
