Your photoshop skills required please!!

Quote from: 'Chris [BEANS
;12621716']Hey all,

Right.... I'm about to knock up my own custom arcade stick and have been having a butchers around for the artwork I'd like.

I've spent hours looking here at some of the absolutely amazing  sticks some have come up with.

I'm pretty sure I can do the woodwork, can definately do all the internals but when it comes to my own artwork I wouldn't even know where to start!!
That's where you guys come in....

I'm looking to have a very simple piece of artwork on the front of my stick using the images below (but feel free to get as creative as you like and if you want to use different similar images be my guest!! :))

I'm looking to have it as per the image below....

(Yep, that's the extent of my artistic ability!! Hence you guys!!)

The red are obviously buttons, the red with black outer is the stick.
Was thinking of having ken bottom left, Capcom above the buttons and then across the whole background a 40% or 50% translucent Japanese Sun or George cross if it doesn't look too plain...........

If any of you can help that'd be gret. I'm not looking for anything that's going to take too much effort from you guys because I'm really only looking to see whether this scheme would work before I commit to it........

Cheers again

Here you go.

Its pretty much just a quick cut and paste job to give you what you were looking for. If you decide this is the layout you want, I'm sure someone can make it look nice for you.
(I'd gladly do it, but I wouldn't be able to guarantee any time frame of delivery and or if it would ever actually get done. The methods to my madness are pretty chaotic.  ;D)

If you decide not, nobody lost any time. ;)

eDIT : And the proportions are WAY off. But you get the idea, I hope. ;)

That's blinding mate, thanks!! :)

I'll almost certainly be going with the japanese flag option.

Now just need to finalise the physical design so I can get some dimensions knocked up and get one done propperly.....

Then I need to find somewhere that'll print it.....

Then I've got to make the physical design into a real physical object....

Blah, blah, blah  :blah:.... LOL!!

Genuinely mate, you're quick mock up of it has inspired me to get it all done :)

Thanks again

nice stinks.

when you get the final positions of the buttons, how about moving the rising sun under the joystick so the lightbeams emanate from there?

That's a great idea, not sure if it can be done, guess it depends on the scale and quality of the images I source as to whether they can be scaled or re-sized well, but having all the buttons inside the sun so that there are no red buttons on what should be white flag would be great!! :)

I've got the main PCB ordered, just sourcing some genuine Sanwa parts :)

Getting excited :)

Hey, no problem at all!

The sun shouldn't be a  problem either. Its a pretty simple design that is begging to be vectorized. At that point, you can do whatever you want to it. I'll see if I have some time later to make up a vectorized version for you. Shouldn't be too much trouble. (No guarantees though! ;) )

Heres a 300 dpi 12"x7" PNG of the flag if you need it.

The funny thing is, I forgot to save the vector. OOPS!  :dizzy: I can remake it though if you need it.

Once you get the dimensions and everything, I can try to put it behind the control stick. It will take some readjusting the proportions to get it to look right. (The "sun" will end up being smaller compared to the "rays" I'm thinking)

Again, that's brilliant, thanks :)

I've settled on 20 inces by 10 inches. I know it's a little large for a single controller, but I figure the artwork would look gret large, it gives me something nice and big and not too intricate to build and I'll have loads of room inside to make the electricals look all pretty because I think I'll have a perspex bottom too......

I'll upload an accurate, scale button layout and if you've still got time to help out then great, if not then thanks so much for knocking it all up in the first place, it's made the difference between me having the idea, and actuall buying all the bits I need to do it :0

You're a legend!!

Lol, the saddest thing is, I've had an idea for my next stick now but I'm determined not to even do a pencil sketch of it untill this stick is done and dusted!!

This is the button layout I'll be going with, aside from some minor changes.
The two buttons at the top won't be anywhere near there, I'll decide exactly where to place them when the stick's infront of me, somewhere top left.
Plus there will be a fourth button on the bottom row, equally spaced to the right of the righthand button. It won't be a problem to measure and place it in real life, but as you know, there's no chance I could do it on paint or whatever!!!
