question about MameMarquees
« on: September 22, 2008, 02:25:15 pm »
ok i placed an order with mame marquees for a custom control panel overlay.  i got an email a week ago updating the status to "processing" and haven't received any other updates.  can i assume it's already on its way to me?  or should i also get another email with shipping info and a tracking number etc?   i'm just getting antsy cause i'm on hold till i get it and i can't see "processing" taking a week.

any info?

You will get another email that says your item has shipped. I have done a lot of business with mame marquees over the years and the last order I placed took 29 days to get to me (longest I have ever waited for anything from him). Usually I would have my stuff between 7-12 days..... Either he is really busy, or was on vacation...Not sure...

I was just more curious then I was with needing it so quickly, I have ordered from scott before and know that when the product does reach me it's going to be nice.

I'm having a similar problem.  I've been emailing mamemarquees (both scott and mitch) for like two weeks now, and I only received one generic response like a week ago.  I understand that they are busy, but a courtesy email would be nice.  I am staring at a CP that I cannot wire until I get my custom CPO printed.  Does anybody have any info on this?

You have to remember that this isn't his full time job. There are very few people that actually really take care and pride in helping out the community and Scott does that.

I would advise just be a little patient. If it is excessively long (i.e you haven't got a reply in 4-6 weeks) then I would try an alternative type of contact maybe through the esupport. I can understand why you are stressed but please try to realise that sometimes these things happen, I am sure it is not intentional.

It really is worth the wait, and what is 4 weeks well you will get years of enjoyment out of this thing!!!

i know i know i know... it's just that i'm so busy with aircraft maintenance that i'll probably have to wait and take another month of leave to really spend any good time working on my projects.  gotta go back to work next week :-(
it's also too bad i can't use air force assets to build this puppy.  i could have the entire thing machined to Mil-Spec, riveted, with self-locking cannon plug disconnects, thermal-taped good up to +1700F, the works.

Patience is pretty important.  I think that we all understand that.  But in my mind, I'm willing to pay good money for the custom work that I want done.  Because of that, it would be nice to know that my request is at least being taken into consideration.  On top of that, I would be really annoyed if I had to wait something like 29 days for a finished product to be shipped!
I know what you mean about the whole "going back to work thing", though.  I recently had to go back myself (summer's over  :( )  I hardly get time at all anymore to work on my cab.  It would just be great if I had all the pieces.

Guys, just remember... Usually it takes much less than 29 days. It took less than a week for him to ship mine IIRC. Also, he does this in his spare time. At times I'm sure he gets backed up, both with mamemarquees stuff and with other life issues I'm sure, including an occasional vacation. So yeah, there will be times where it takes longer than any of us would like. But he is a great guy to work with, and usually communication with him is great. He has really gone above and beyond for me.

And there is nothing wrong with emailing him to get an update - you don't need to wonder for weeks what the status is.

Hey guys I just came across this note.

swaffer your order shipped out on 9/17 five days after you ordered, I just updated the shopping cart with your tracking info.  Since it is going to an APO, it will take some time to get through customs, but you should get it soon  Sorry, I am really bad at updating the shipping info... if only I had the resources of amazon or newegg.

when requesting quotes for design work please send an email to my designer vlad at Customgraphics@mamemarquees.com as directed on my front page, it goes to him instead of my generic info email account, I just don't have the time to personally do custom work any longer.  gman I dug out your email and forwarded it over to vlad, you should hear from him tomorrow.

I did go on a vacation the end of august which is why things took a little longer during that time, but I am pretty much caught up now.

Thanks for the info Scott.  I'm sorry if I was a pest at any time, but I'm sure you know how it is: you got all these arcade parts sitting in front of you, and you can't wait to put them together.  Unfortunately, it's one of the few things that I can look foward to in the immediate future (being a teacher that recently had to go back to work  :'().  And believe me, we all do need a good vacation sometimes  ;D
By the way, I hope Vlad doesn't get too annoyed at the fact that I keep coming up with different artwork ideas.  Everytime i think i have it all figured out, something new pops into my head.

Found this link after searching for an alternate way to get a hold of someone at mamemarquees.

I got a UPS email saying that my order shipped on the 22nd, and my order's status was updated to indicate "shipped" on the same day, but UPS' tracking information has only showed "Billing Information Received" for the past 9 days -- meaning they haven't gotten even the package yet.  I can't get a response via email.

I'm an easy going guy and have tons of patience, but when you fork out money for a product, I think the least you can expect is a response to correspondence...

Do wel all really expect to have next day delivery on these things ?

I mean, Scott is not doing this for his main business. Building or restoring a cab is usually also not done within a day, so plan ahead and order your stuff ahead of the building/restoring process if you need to.

I'm a slow restorer. I have very limited time available but I don't mind. This is my approach to this hobby. These baby's are all around 25 years old, so what does one or two weeks longer mean ?

Scott has been good to me, I only use his products when there's no NOS or silk-screened repro's available (he knows this) or for custom work in the future, but his quality is great.

I think you're missing the point.

I'm in no rush to complete a project and this isn't about next day delivery or the speed at which a product arrives.  This is about common courtesy.  When a customer gets a notice that their product was shipped 10 days ago, but the shipper says they've never even received the package, that's bound to raise some questions.  I would expect the vendor to be there to answer those questions.  This is about acknowledging the customer, and being available to answer legitimate questions and address legitimate concerns.

**UPDATE**

I finally heard from Scott today.  It looks like UPS lost it.  Scott's sending another shipment Monday.  I'm relieved that I got the response I was looking for, but at the same time pretty bummed out for Scott.
