Arkanoid Cocktail
« on: September 21, 2008, 09:08:55 pm »
Not sure why I never started an announcement about this one.

I bought this at a yard sale a couple years back for twenty bucks.  I saw it on Craigslist.  I emailed the guy and asked what he wanted for it, he wrote back and told me $60.  I figured even in parts it was worth it.

Next day I started out @ 6am to make it to the place by 8am (it was pretty far away).  I got lost and couldn't find the place.  I was sure that someone else had taken it first I was so late.  But I finally found the place.  Couldn't see the game!  Crap!

Asked about it, they said it was out back.  Said it had been outside for about a week.  Crap, it had been a really rainy week!  But it looked okay.  A lot of it was sealed with silicone, and a lot of it was metal.  Very little wood to soak up water.  I asked how much it was again, and he told me $20.  Since it had been out in the rain for a few days, I think the lower price was in order!

I opened the door, couldn't see any water inside.  Very good!  But when we tipped it, suddenly water started pouring everywhere.  Investigating I found that the water was trapped under the control panels, which were metal reservoirs.  I thought about haggling with this guy for a lower price because of the water, but it was dry inside the unit and I just didn't feel like it.  I got the cocktail, an Atari 2600 and two old Coleco mini arcade games (Donkey Kong and Frogger) for $30 total.

Yes.  I'm using the funds from this to repair other games. I've got six monitors that need recapping, parts that need replacing, and an ornery landlady that wants the rent on her storage space in a timely manner.

How much are you trying to get? I didn't see a price anywhere.

Are you STILL selling this? If so how much are you asking for it?

Sorry, I didn't see the reply until now.

I haven't decided on a price, but by your inquiry it sounds like you're interested.

Yeah I might be interested if the price is right. It would be a long drive for me to pick it up though.
