Launching iTunes from Mamewah
« on: September 18, 2008, 11:05:32 am »
I'm having trouble launching iTunes from Mamewah. I made a folder with a link to itunes in it. I created an .ini file that has the folder with the iTunes link in it as the rom path, the extension type as "LNK", and the emulator executable as "PC". iTunes shows up in the list, but when I try to launch it it briefly shows the  "loading iTunes" box in mamewah and then does nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Below  is my configuration file.

Dont know much about MAMEWAH, but just as a quick suggestion, try changing it to point to the actual .EXE file, instead of the link. I could easily imagine that MAMEWAH is trying to load the link file as an EXE, which depending on how it is done will do nothing. (IE the OS may see the link file and go "This isnt an EXE, so error-out").

also, are you sure iTunes is the best app for what you want?
If this is for a cab there are probably alternatives (like some of the jukebox apps) which might be a better "fit".
Shut up! Bloody Vikings!!

I'm pretty sure Itunes need full path which does not allways checked when launched from a fronted. Mamewah create a log file, so you can check what it does and do.

You should use a bat file and let the shortcut point to that, and do  something like this (path and exe might been wrong):

Code: [Select]
C:\
cd c:\program files\itunes
itunes.exe

Itunes is for my options not very arcade cabinet and not for use with mamewah. I for some decades go created Arcade Music Box (discounted, but still works well) as a jukebox software designed with mamewah in mind, but there is of course others arcade cabinet friendly software out too.
Decade Old Work: MultiFE, ArcadeMusicBox
Today Works: Various Spectrum Next games from Rusty Pixels and html5 games.
