Used Japanese Pachislo (Slots)
« on: September 16, 2008, 01:42:09 pm »
There is a buyout resale chain in my area called Value City that occasionally gets in shipments of Pachislo slots for sale. I've looked before, but they weren't very nice. This past weekend, I looked and they had 2 of the nice ones that have lcd screens. They sell for $150, but I am leery of buying them due to the 'used' condition. Yes, I do realize that all japanese machines are cleared out every year before anyone says that.

Has anyone else bought these? Is it really worth having one in a gameroom, or am I better off going with one of the nicer resellers on the 'net that have the nicer lcd machines.

I have 2 that I got from a local guy. One with an LCD and one doesn't.

Me and the family love them. They are fun, especially for kids. You can turn them to payout about 120%!! So get plenty of tokens!!

I have owned 2, a volcanic non lcd & a popeye with a 19" lcd, I would only buy one that has been gone thru.  I had a lot of problems with the volcanic it was used but the popeye had been reconditioned & its been problem free

These at the store are labeled as being reconditioned. They come with 100 or 200 tokens, and appear to look good cosmetically. The main thing that bugs me is that they have a big label on the box that says "do not return to store" and to deal with some company to address problems. Screw that! If the thing doesn't work, I want to take it back to the store.

See if they have a volume control, too.  The non-volume controlled ones are friggen' loud!  (Although it's not that hard to add your own volume control).

I would not be afraid of a reconditioned that is what my popeye is.  Usually the company has gone thru the machine, painted it & installed new transformers.

I turned my down as far as I could with the dip switches and they were still TOO LOUD!

My solution was to take the speakers out and I cut the cardboard of a 12 pack of beer to the shape of the speaker and sandwiched it between the speaker and the frame. It muffled the sound quite a bit.

Theres a warehouse store that isnt open to the public (except for the month of September, locally, anyway - no membership fees) that has some Pachislo, w/ and w/o LCD for 129$

Locations in OH, IN and MI
http://www.flowerfactory.com/ecom_locations.asp - yea, the name sounds off, but that place rocks, they have the craziest stuff in there sometimes. Dont let the online store fool you into thinking it sucks... So, if youve got one local, and theyre doing the non-business memberships (I know the Dayton location is) then stop in.
