Artwork Critique...
« on: September 23, 2008, 02:57:22 pm »
So it seems I can only find one month out of the year to dream/work on this :censored: project. Last year I drafted plans for the cab and acquired all of my parts, this year I'm working on art and themes. Who knows when I'll be able to touch a blade to some wood.

I'm not much of a superhero/comics fan, so I need some critiques and crits. I was struggling with my MAME PC config, had a breakthrough, and exclaimed, "Shazam!" So it was born.

Bolts on the sides, bolt+Captain on the CP...

Like the Shazam on the marquee, you could really go somewhere with that. But forget about Captain Marvel anywhere on the cab. If your not a comics fan (trying hard to imagine what a "captain marvel" fan actually is like!) you should avoid sticking comic characters on. Remeber every time you play on the cab your going to be drawn straight to the part that you weren't sure of or rushed to get a quick result. Go with a theme you like. My £0.02
When pixelated clipart just wont do, just call for Betty

Yeah, I was hesitant to use Captain Marvel because I'm not much of a comic-guy. I thought his name was Shazam until I Googled him to figure out if I really wanted to go in this direction. I mainly remember saying Shazam! when I was a kid as a curse-replacement. Anyway, I started with the FE and Captain Marvel just fit so well...

I really like the sideart! looks very funky and eyecatching! Colours are also good!

I do however agree with waveryder, getting rid of Cap marvel is a must as it is not a comic themed cab. The logo on the marquee is great, but needs a little work to make it stand out.

Similarly, the CP also needs some work. It could do with some black in there for contrast. You are definitely heading in the right direction and I really love the renders!

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll dump the Captain and see what Illustrator magic happens...
