Castle Crashers on Xbox LIVE
« on: September 06, 2008, 12:13:08 pm »
As A long time lurker of these forums, in preparation of my cabinet projects(now in design phase) I was surprised to not see this game mentioned in a thread.

For those who don't know http://www.castlecrashers.com/ the game was released on Xbox Live  August 27th for 1200 points ($15 US). Made by 'The Behemoth, the same studio responsible for Alien Hominid.

Rather than describe the game or how it plays, I will let you check out the link above or d/l the trial version from Live.

I will say that although 1200points for a LIVE Arcade title is a lot, this game is definitely worth it! The hand drawn animation makes the visuals a pleasure to look at on my 46"HDTV. The humor and style of the developers is abundant and there's tons of unlockable characters, weapons and animal orbs to find and use.

Having said all the praise, I will mention the the online multiplayer does suffer from some networking issues that are being worked on to be patched asap. Most issues revolve around having players get disconnected or have trouble getting a game started with friends. Most of the time, my experience has been letting another friend host the game usually allows for the game to start normally.

I have already played through one time with one character (partially with friends and partially offline) and Am looking forward to playing through with more characters and playing through on Insane Mode.

Makes me think I should plan an extra project to build a Showcase cab with a Xbox360 hooked up to it.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone else who has played it.

I love it.  I wasn't expecting to like it enough to spend $10, let alone $15, but after all the hype I tried the demo and in 10-15 minutes I was hooked.  I thought it was well worth the $15 even though I buy most of my disc-based games for less than that.

I'm a big fan of Golden Axe, and this feels like the sequel I always wanted.  Almost.
