Sure everyone has played Street Fighter, MK, King of Fighter, Samarai Showdown, even less popular World heroes and AOF.

But what you guys think are some cool less known fighting games in Mame. I'm sure Neogeo has made a few. Just curious, and looking for a hidden Gem.

pocket fighter. it's like the best capcom characters, little. there is more than just fighting, you collect gems and such. it's tied to the puzzle fighter game.

Garou: Mark of Wolves? Not exaclty unknown but it recieved exceptional critical acclaim.

And there's perhaps the new Double Dragon fighter called Rage of Dragons. It's exceptionally tough and has a rather unorthodox fight system so you'd have to give it some time though.

Hmm.. Waku Waku 7 is enjoyed by many Neo owners.

There are loads of niche neo geo fighters really. I wish I had my new computer and broadband so I could play them.

Super Gem Fighter is radtastic, and really easy for people who aren't fighting game nuts to pick up. There are three buttons, (Punch, Kick, and... Wackiness?) and it shows your special moves down on the bottom of the screen (3 moves per char) as well as the level that you've charged them up to during the course of your fight (by grabbing gems.) And the wackiness button is just plain old bizarre. Good bizarre, not bad bizarre.

super gem just plays off that japanese thing of making their heads bigger, bodies smaller, and making it all cute... they did it with splatterhouse wanapanki graffiti on famicon, and they did it with virtua fighter kids...i didn't really care for it as opposed to a serious fighting game, but i did like zangiefs chair shot move, LMFAO

The Punisher and Two Tribes..errr..I think thats the name....very very fun beat-em-ups.

I can't wait for Die Hard the arcade game to be emulated......that was alot of fun.....
2 player polygonal beat-em-up.....

The Chinese Exorcist. The game stinks, but is hard... and it is really messed up!!! it has a differnt name in MAME under "R"

Check out Last Blade and Last Blade 2. Both are very good weapons-based fighters. In other news supposedly Zinc is very close to fully emulating Soul Calibur (drool).

Yeah that game is always good fun. Basic countering fighting techniques (wacky button)

Oh i can believe i forgot Rival Schools. That game is great.
Im gonna have to try the others you guys mentioned.

ummm no garou does not equal fatal fury... play garou, onet hing you'll notice is you can choose part of ur energy bar to flash and have super stuff blah blah, only resemblance is snk and bogard... great game, but totally not ff

Fatal Fury series is called Garou in Japan. It's a pretty well known series but alot of people hadn't played the last one because SNK's distro was awful towards the end.

If you guys are into scrolling 2d fighters you should look out for Viewtiful Joe by Capcom on the Gamecube. I was talking with some guys who were playing the demo and they said it was fantastic. You can combo all the enemies, block, dodge, cancel moves etc. All the sophistication of a moden 1v1 fighter in a scroller. And it works really well with an arcade stick.

i played it @ e3! it wuz awesome. that was my motivation for buying the 'cube. well, that and metroid... but when that comes out i will definitely hack a stick for it. i think armad1||0 did a write up...

but also, yie ar kung fu. that game is awesome. oh, and by the way, i just recently saw that jean claude van damme movie, the one where he goes to japan to fight in a tournament. was that karate champ he was playing?

i dont care what garou is, garou is different than king of fighters/fatal fury...

and darkstalkers is great 1 and 2, vamp savior in japan but yea i love that game

Crash: maybe his first couple were him fighting in tournements. After that every one of his movies was him playing his own twin. As if 1 bad actor wasn't enough, let's give him twice as many characters!

I think Van Dam movies suck, don't get me wrong, but I think I also know the answer to your question. The movie is Bloodsport (maybe Kickboxer, but I think Bloodsport) and the game is indeed Karate Champ.

not emulated in MAME (yet) but, get a copy of Guilty Gear X for DC...

...it's easily the nicest looking 2d fighter I've ever seen (not pixellated like SF/KOF etc)

Another awesome DC fighting game is Tech Romancer

Run the playstation emulator and play Fighting Force (the first one NOT the second one!)....its a 3D Final-Fight type of beat em up...also fun.....

for clarification: van damme movies do suck.

but on the fighting game subject, any1 played those jojo adv. on dc? i like it. or the bloody roar series, thhey are nothing much in gameplay, but the idea of morphing into a bunny or a chamelion has a certain appeal.

Hmm... Guilty Gear X is a pretty well known fighter, especially in japan, like Guilty Gear XX 2 or something like that is coming out, that's an extra version of XX in the arcade, my bro's been updating me in that field.
Btw, Rage of the Dragons has a hella simplisitic combo system, since every character is the same pretty much, just knock up into the air, follow the combo guide, go to next character, knock into air, do combo guide, knock off wall, do combo guide, 75% damage.
I'd say one of the least known fighters ever is Groove on Fight. It's Power Instinct 3, but its freaaakin bizarre, my bro bought it for the Saturn a few years ago, and its good, but VERY VERY strange. If you can get your hands on a .iso of it, definitely burn and try it out.
