neon mame artwork
« on: September 04, 2008, 11:27:57 pm »
i know this might be a touchy request. does anyone have any of the Neon Mame artwork. since knievel is longer producing panels. i have look at a crap load of artwork and never find anything that i like. i keep comparing to the Neon Mame so it sets the bar real high. i am not looking to produce panels, i am looking for to finish a machine that i started 2 years ago. if anyone can help me or knievel himself please PM me.

thanks

It's unfortunate that people probably took advantage of Knievel's generosity in sharing his design, to create and sell cabs with his design.  I politely inquired about getting the control panel design, fully willing to pay, but alas the poor guy wasn't pleased with the request (ie. go pound sand). Of course, this is fully his right to do so. It's still a bit disappointing for new Neon MAME & Arcade Controls fans, especially when one thinks about how many clones are already out there... we missed the boat!

it is a shame that some people took advantage to make money off of it. i think his machines are the best thing that ever happened to the BYOAC groups. i would pay for the artwork or a CPO and the rest of the art printed. he should make a deal with mamemarquess that he get a fee for every set sold. if the price was right im sure many people would buy them. its not only the neon mame that people like of his designs. personally i like arcade mania CPO as much. this would help out the people like me that have no photoshop skills what so ever.
i have emailed him also about the art and he was real nice to me explaining that he no longer makes the panels.  EVIL think about what i said about having someone do the printing. we dont need the panels, just the art. we all here should be able to cut a panel and the printer would be doing the work. im sure a repro printer woud love to take on the task. more traffic for them and a few dollars in your pocket.

and the ones that ripped off the art for your own benefit for a few bucks  :badmood:

dont flame me for this, i bet a ton of people here feel the same. and this is not intended for any disrespect of Knievil at all. he deserves a ton of respect for his work and has set the bar SOOOOO high for all of us.

I personally do not have a set, but I am sure someone here does.  I'm sure if you ask nicely, someone will give you what they have.  Have you ever thought about going a different direction with your art work?

I must have missed something along the way.  Big K posted his artwork somewhere and then people started selling it?

 :censored:

Crap like that is what hurts the community.  I dont really blame Knievel for saying "No".  Good luck man, hope you can find what you need....

I believe that the image / art he used is called cosmic frostbite.
Knievel did not make the art just the halos, and stuff. he even has a tutorial on his website on how to do the halos. I bet it gets redundant to answer the same question a million times. Fame , awards, and creativity has it's downside.

He's a good guy and always been helpful. Imitation is the best form of flattery.

His tutorial is on http://www.knievelkustoms.com/neonmame.htm

Google is your friend.

If it was there when you posted this, I'm either blind now or it was removed?

It is sad that people take advantage of good nature. However, as an art lover I believe it is important to share. I always make my artwork available simply because 3 years ago I hadn't even heard of Illustrator and I know how difficult it is for people who have no clue about artwork to design stuff.

You will always get some ---tallywhacker--- taking advantage of the situation but it doesn't mean others should suffer. In this case Knievel makes money from this and people replicating his work effects his livelihood, so I understand fully why he STOPPED sharing it. It is important to appreciate that at one point he did share.

Hopefully one day his faith will be restored in this community.

But to be honest..... I would also like to get my hands on it! ;D

I would even be happy with a pattern. I can do the artwork myself or get it done. I had been in talks with him for some time and when I finally pulled the trigger he said no more. :(
