Where can I Get Emulator Images with Transparent Backgrounds?
« on: August 26, 2008, 11:56:36 am »
I'm looking for images with transparent backgrounds to use for various emulators (MAME, Atari, Colecovision, etc) I want to create a new skin for Mamewah, but I am having problems finding the Title Images for each emulator that I can add to each screen. If someone knows a source I can get these, please let me know. Thanks

Well, I hope this is the answer you are looking for.  I am currently using AtomicFE and the plug and play system.  I simply took the default emulator pics and opened them in paint.  Then I used the fill tool(paint can) and filled the entire background with a default off-pink color, around the emulator image.  Then I set AtomicFE to ignore the off-pink color, and the emulator image appears on top of your background, without a big square around it.  I have used Mamewah in the past, and I believe you can set it to ignore certain colors, just like in AtomicFE.

The Hyperspin folks use these images for their wheel. If you don't mind downloading a gigabyte bit torrent, you can download the frontend and get the images there. Otherwise, maybe you can post a message at the Hyperspin forums and maybe someone can email them to you.

Even then, I don't know if MAMEwah supports full alpha blending. You might need to composite some images yourself with ImageMagick or Photoshop or whatever.

Old, but not obsolete.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

When you say "title images" do you mean the system logos? If you check out Brands of the Wold it has a huge collection of logos.

Thanks for all of the info guys... Yes I mean't logos, I've downloaded Hyperspin in the past so I have that to look at, and I'll also take a look at Brands of the World. Thanks
