EmuMovies beta update?
« on: August 22, 2008, 06:37:45 pm »
Back when Circo released the beta 2 or 3 months ago, he said (either publicly or privately to me, can't recall) that updates were likely to come about once a month, at least for ftp. There hasn't been an update since, at least not one that he has announced. I've tried emailing him to find out when it might come, with no response.

Has anyone heard anything about when he will have an update for the mame videos? He's been getting involved with a bunch of different stuff since then, so I wonder if he just didn't anticipate how little time he would have for the mame videos. I wouldn't complain except I have I think 2 or 3 faulty videos that cause problems for mala, which I reported to him quite some time ago.

Not trying to pressure Circo into making an update happen if he's currently overloaded; just hoping someone has some info on the status, particularly an estimate of when we might see an update.

I know that he has been extremely busy.  I talk to him a lot, I will let him know about your questions.

Sorry, and your right been involved with a few extra projects as of late, I have a fairly HUGE mame update on my hard drive.  Just working on editing it down, while also refreshing many of the console sets.  If you dont mind refresh my memory on the couple of vids that had issues in mala, I may have already replaced them.

It's great to hear that there's been a lot of progress with the mame movies, and no need to apologize.

As it turns out, there might have only been 1 "faulty" video that I know of, but other issues I found. Here are the issues I sent you, and I'll add #3 to the list, though I'm sure that's not news to you (I seem to recall you mentioning the incompleteness at some point).

  • 1. I think there is a bad video: the SQ suprmrio (vs. super mario bros) has out of sync audio. Furthermore, I believe this problematic video is causing MaLa to hang if I either launch the game or move to a different item in the game list at certain points in the video.
  • 2. Why are some of the SQ videos 640x480? Shouldn't they all be 320x240? Incidentally suprmrio is 640x480, so maybe the set of SQ 640x480 vids are actually failed conversions to 320x240???
  • 3. Some games have no video. St. Dragon comes to mind as an example. I'm guessing you don't need a list, but I could check if there are others if you'd like.

The .127 update so far has 580 new videos.  Not quite done yet but a good way through, this is a full set audit and I am through the letter "V"  will change that vs super mario.
