Mame .69 and artwork
«

For some reason I can't get the artwork for games like Asteroids Deluxe and Battlezone to work with mame .69. I've tried all the obvious things to no avail. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks.

Tried it...didn't work. I've tried both the command line version and Mame32. Both refuse to use the artwork. This one has totally stumped me.

ok, your artwork setup correctly? you have an artwork folder and in the mame cfg/ini file you are pointing to that folder. And the artwork is in it's zip files in that folder?

Yup. Been using Mame for countless years now and I've NEVER run into this problem until .69. I'll download an older version and see what happens.
Update: Tried Mame .60 (I had a copy laying around). Artwork displays no problem. Very strange indeed...

I haven't had a chance to try .67 and .68, but I did try the new .70. Guess what? It STILL won't use the artwork! I'm still not sure why .60 will and the newest versions won't.

I've got an idea...what was the first version of Mame to use Direct 3D?
