running real arcade boards through PC monitor or TV...

I am thinking of buying an arcade PCB (suzuka 8 hours or final lap, jamma with standard res video and some extra inputs for the steering+gas+brake) and I want to know what the cheapest way to hook it up to a TV set or PC would be...
I would want sound, video, power and controlls (controlls being coins, test buttons, start, gas, brake, steering).

I have a standard 17 inch PC monitor or a standard Australian PAL TV set (with the video-audio left-audio right 3-plug input)

I guess the bigest expenses are going to be:
steering wheels + pedal (if there is some way to use said wheels + pedal for PC racing games when not plugged into the PCB, thats a good thing but not if it makes them even more expensive)

I dont really care about it being accurate, I am mainly intending to buy this so I can run some trojan code on it and figure out how the road generator chips work (for MAME purposes)

What would be the cheapest way to get this board going, what parts would I need and where can I get them (given that I am in australia)?

Cheapest way would be to get an actual standard res arcade monitor (an old burned in one with a poor picture would be cheaper than what it would take to get it going on yr television or PC monitor).

If the controls are analog pots, then you can just get the proper pots and wire them up to the harness.

how would I figure out the correct POTs to use?
And would the pedals/steering wheels be likely to have have "stops" that would mean that they wouldnt cover the full range of the POT?
And, how would I handle the gear shift (basicly, its just a on/off switch, either "connected" or "not connected"

Also, an arcade monitor is out for a bunch of reasons, including space issues.

The manual should tell you which pots to use. The pots and an on/off switch for the shifter could be mounted on a small piece of wood, which would allow you to at least operate the game, but not really PLAY the game. Also, you don't need much space for a 13" monitor. Reason I suggested a real one is because here in the US crappy working arcade monitors are usually only $25-$50 and can usually be had locally from other collectors or distributors.
