Video card tragically died need suggestions on replacement

I had a radeon ati 7200 card which gave up the ghost and now I'm looking for an updated recommendation. I'm running my pc on a WG9200. I'm running Mame, NullDC and a few other cab friendly pc games.

Dude, depends on what you want from it. If you're not running native, get the most powerful card you budget allows. If running native - of which then I'm assuming you're using soft15khz - defer to the soft15 thread and related web pages.

Originally, I was running adv mame, but now that I'm updating  Mame and I see that isn't an option anymore.  Arcade VGA is my first choice, but I didn't know if there was a better option or if Arcade VGA might be getting an update soon.

i just bought an argade vga card from andy at ultimarc, made my own breakout cable from and old monitor cable and it works perfectly.
takes 2 minutes to load the drivers then up it came no bother - just the way it should be, plug and play!!!!

arcadevga is a radeon 9250 pro 128MB ddr1 that cannot run most pc games from the past 5 years correctly.

for around the same price you could buy a X1950 pro DDR3 512MB that will run anything you throw at it today and still run native with soft15K.

arcadevga is great for plug and play mame but for pc gaming it is way out of date now and a very low end card and their has been new series since then that have gone and passed and now on to another series.

you can get a 9250 pro for around $18.00 or less shipped new these days.

Yeah, I know, I love advancemame. I bought a newer card, but just couldn't get over not having Advancemame, so I went back. Of course, I don't care at all for commercial PC games.

I think northerngames is thinking only of the AGP format version. The PCIe is an ATI X1050. However, the rest he said is so and hence why not do as he says?

yeah I was thinking of the agp version only as that is what I run.

the x1950 pro 512MB that I have is the most powerfull AGP realeased to date I got mine for around $110.00 shipped used not bad compared to what they use to be a few years ago oach.

only problem with this type of agp is around a $100.00 PSU was needed to run it right so keep in mind that high end cards need high end PSU's with plenty of amp's on a single rail.

I run a corsair VX550 PSU and it has plenty of power to power more things if needed.

I have an old working Radeon 9200 128MB PCI card that I'm not using. I was able to run Half-Life 2 just fine with this card and runs NullDC just fine, too.

weird I tried nulldc with a x1950 pro amd athlon 64 4000+ barton with G. skill 2 gig duel channel kit and I got unplayable choppyness with nulldc.

what are your pc specs?

It depends what game you tried to play on the emulator, it's not the PC specs sometimes that makes it not run, it's just the game is not emulated well yet or emulated slow.

Emulation is not like playing a PC game where the specs to run this or that is set in stone. I ran Soul Calibur 2 at around 30fps. Some games will run faster and others will run slower.

@ShieldWolf...  what did  you eventually decide to do?  Ummon and NorthernGames are spot on in their recommendations assuming you want to go native rez.
