Greetings guys....
Been a while since I have had a chance to post as all my spare time has gone into to the cab and work, however I can finally say that all is complete minus installing the front door. Very happy with the result as is the rest of the family, which means it gets to stay in the house. = )
Had great intentions of posting as I went however just didn't really happen (...I know not in spirit, but spare time is difficult to find with a young family). That being said, I took photos all the way so if there is anything any of you would like to ask or see, just let me know and I can post the relevant images.
Here is a quick summary of cab features...
Built from scratch cabinet
18mm MDP all round
HAPP Controls (Supers and 3" trackball)
HAPP colour matched T-Mold
Tornado Spinner
LED Marquee light (c/o Groovy Game Gear)
Neon Lighting (perfect for jukebox use!...I don't use all the time)
Intel Quad Core 2.4Ghz (overkill I know, but wanted to future proof and used for other things)
2GB RAM
1TB HDD (RAID 5...too much work to lose. been dropping drives lately.)
Inbuilt 802.11 a/b/g
21" Dell Trinitron CRT
Ultimarc IPAC 4
Ultimarc PCI-E Arcade VGA
Custom artwork (thanks to forum for ideas and some source images)
Premium polycarbonate acrylic overlays (same as plexi I think)
4 x Antec Cooling fans (RED LED)
Logitech ZX-2300 2.1 Speaker System
Maximus Arcade FE
That is pretty much it.
Pain points....
Didn't like painting the thing. Happy with result but took a lot more effort than expected. Ended up with 3 coats of satin super enamel, applied with foam roller.
Also think I was overly fussy with some aspected of cab, which tended to eat up time.
Made a lot more mess and took much more time than expected.
Future updates...
Only plan to attach front door and maybe install coin door to maintain authentic feel. That's pretty much it.
Closing points...
It has been fun, but also challenging at the same time. Thanks to my family for their patience and to all the people on the forum who inspired me to attempt this project.
Here are some images of the finished product. Hope you like.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Cheers,
