Kortex KT-2914F Super Blurry
« on: August 10, 2008, 02:47:21 pm »
I've recently come into a Kortex KT-2914F 27" monitor.  When powering up, the monitor is super blurry--it's not just for the inputs coming in to the monitor, but the monitor itself.

I'm trying to get an idea as to whether or not this is something that can be repaired reasonably or if I should just spend the money and buy a new one.  After getting this all set to go in my box, I'm not ready to move back to a 21" monitor!

Thanks in advance for any input!

have u tried to adjust the focus pot  ?

most are located on the IHVT

upper ctl is the focus grid

lower ctl is the screen grid.

there could be a fault in the crt socket or the crt (weak)

I adjusted the focus with no change.  I'm pretty much a newbie with monitors; I did give a call to Zane Electronics to see about getting a cat kit, but he didn't think that was the issue and that this *may* be something that a TV Repair man could fix relatively easily.

Any other input is appreciated.

this monitor has an On Screen Display , or " OSD". when the menu is displayed , is the focus still poor ?
note :
pic will be poor if the convergence rings have been disturbed . however , the focus should be crisp.....

post a pic .....  ;)

IIRC (Mine is currently not handy), there is also some sort of focus related adjustment in the service mode OSD.  I would think the focus pot on the flyback would have more effect.  Did you say you turned the focus pot on the flyback, and it had NO effect, or were you just not able to make it "good" using that method?

There is also a moire adjustment in the OSD.  This purturbs the picture some in order to reduce the appearance of moire patterns, but can cause things to look blurry to some (for others it just looks really jumpy).  Perhaps those got set wrong?

Like QRZ said, this could also be a convergence issue given your description.  This looks different, but may appear to some as blurriness.  A pic would be most useful.  Try to grab it with both a known good test pattern such as a grid as well as the OSD up.
