Hookup, Nova Matrix LED strip. Help
« on: August 09, 2008, 08:56:30 pm »
Hi,

I'm trying to wire up my new (well, old) Nova Matrix LED strip to my pac-man/60-in-1 cab, but I have a couple questions before hand.

On the groovy game gear website it specifies that you can hook this up to a atx power supply or directly to the cab. Now I notice on the actual product theres two different connectors. The only difference is that one of the connectors has a diode right next to it (D1). Out of the two connectors, Is there a certain one I need to hook up to to tap into 12v of energy? My only fear is that I'll pick a connector thats only rated for 5v. and this thing will fry :P (can you tell I'm learning as I'm going?)

I believe it was here on byoac where I read that someone fried the led strip and got all huffy toward the maker...

thank you for taking the time to read this + and/or respond!

huffy and puffy? NO! That would NOT happen here. This is one big happy family. Period

I'm all for being a hooligan, but COME ON, it's old.

If its designed to run on 12v, and you feed it 5v, odds are in your favor that it won't fry.  It may not work, but it probably won't fry.

EDit: Looking at the pics, it looks like theres 2 wires on the harness... Red and black.  Hooking to a PC, on a drive connector, Yellow is +12v and black is ground - TYPICALLY.  Did I misunderstand the question?

But wasn't it fun to think you won the lottery, just for a second there???
