quick question about happ vision pro 19" installation
« on: August 06, 2008, 11:41:35 pm »
*I posted this in my restoration thread, but I believe I'll get better responses here (seems more appropriate)*

my jamma board has the the standard vide wires of: r,g,b, gnd and sync. (bob roberts)

where as the chassis has:
*connector 1*
r,g,b, gnd, vert-sync, horizontal-sync.

I was thinking I'd just plug the color coded connectors to their according chassis wires. White to white (h-sync) gnd to black, etc. Good.

here is where I'm confused:

The final wire, vert sync, which is yellow. Do I leave this alone? Or do I hook it up somewhere else.

Theres also another set of 3 pinouts containing another set of v-sync, h-snc, and gnd. No connector though. Whats the deal with these?

heres my new monitor: http://happ.com/monitors/49132900.htm

leave the vert sync off for the time being as you probably will not use it
the other plug, dunno could be positive sync signals-don't worry about it

do you have manual for the monitor?

Grantspain,

heres a link to the manual: http://happ.com/images/pdf/49-1329-VP2_manual.pdf

Whats the difference between vertical sync and horizontal sync?
Is horizontal the standard?

This is going in a pac-man and will be orientated vertically. Does that make a difference? hah.

sorry if these seem like ignorant questions, but I'm brainless on the subject  :banghead:
I checked the faq, but didn't see anything about v-sync or h-sync that pertained to my needs.

o.k normally most older game boards output a negative horizontal sync to lock the picture so in relation to this all you need to connect is the horizontal sync wire

this is not always the case and different monitors like different syncs, some namco boards actually have to have the vertical sync connected and linked to ground via 5k resistor

but tbh i am 100% sure if you connect your horizontal sync wire it will work,if it don't then you will cause no damage whatsoever and you can try some other options

I made a mistake-- Its a vertical pac-man cabinet, but it will be using a 60-in-1.
Eventually I'd like to return it to a dedicated pac, so I do appreciate the heads up.

also thanks for letting me know about not damaging the board.
I'll start with the basic setup and go from there!

Thank you for your help!

I just finished installing all the wires into molex connectors  >:D

(note: klax is the only pcb I have handy right now.)
