In seeing the sit-down driving cabinet, and me with a PS2 and Ebox that just kinda sit there cuz I've got too many games to choose from, I remember that my wife really digs racing games.
In fact, she loves sitting down and playing a racing game against me.
So here I am, building a MAME upright, working on a coctail now thats basically going to be identical to the upright...and suddenly...my focus...starts to shift.
It starts to shift towards using the spare 27" TV I have and running racing games on it, maybe even running my coctail PC on it.....so I started to think.
I have a PS2, an xbox, and a Dreamcast...and a spare PC. Dreamcast has alot of fun racing games, PS2 of course has Gran Tourismo (among others), and Xbox also has a few really good racing games.
But then it dawned on me, which of these games support multiplayer multi-monitor? Very Few!
The dreamcast had a link cable but only 1 racing game used it (Ferarri).....the PS2 supports a link cable, but I have NO IDEA how many games out there actually support that function. I'm pretty sure GT3 does, but do other games support multi-PS2 multi-monitor setups?
Lastly..xbox...with its sort-of-ethernet built in, one would think it supported multi-xbox andmulti monitor games...but I'm not sure if Project Gotham or Rally Sport support those features.
Finally the PC: The PC has the need for spped series, some rally games, and a bunch of other games...most with network playability......so thats kind of a no-brainer..I was thinking:
1) Colin MCRae 2.0
2) Need for Speed: HOt Pursuit II
3) NFS III or 4 or 5
4) Powerslide/SpeedBusters...etc...
5) Does MOTOR CITY allow for non-online racing? ie: racing your own cars on your own LAN???
I'm tempted to buy a cheapie Dreamcast Wheel, and then get the PS2/PC compatible logitech driving force to cover my bases there....any thoughts on this???
Can anyone out there give me a list of whats supported? Ideally I'd like to make one "driving cab" that would also be a standard console cab......but I'd like to
