MGS4...

Let me just say...  *drool*

The graphics are -AMAZING-, the story is great (as usual), and the gameplay is even better than before.  If you have a PS3, get this game!   :applaud: :applaud:

What gameplay?  It's 70% movie.  When there was gameplay it was pretty good.  however, because of hte way the game is designed I don't see any reason to play through it again.  Unless you are obsessed with earning trophies that is.  I beat the game on default difficulty in one weekend.

The good thing is when there is gameplay it gives you a good variety.

I know once I beat it (currently on Normal) I'm going to retry it on a harder level, as well as try to play through without killing anyone.  I'm in act 4 right now, and I'm up to about ~530 kills, lol.  ::)

Nice thing is, second time though, you can just skip the scinematics.

Which sadly, besides the cool secret weapons and such, doesnt leave you much of anything substantial to do...

I'm a huge MG fan, and I will say that of the "newer" ones, my tier is MGS, MGS3, MGS4, and MGS2.

It was cool, but as time went on I realized that my love of the game wasn't for the one game and it's specific story as much as it was for the overall story and my own history with snake playing all these years.  Especially that one throwback area....Oy... beautiful.

MGS4 just felt like it was throwing everything at me unnaturally storywise (like MGS2).  Almost like it was trying to form a vocal encyclopedia and then let me play for a little bit while I process the story.

Especially now that I'm playing through Mass Effect, which MGS4 pales in comparison to, I hate to say.

OrganicJerk: I couldn't agree more.  MGS is a fun ride, but the gameplay isn't anything groundbreaking.  Its just a real cool way to interact with a compelling story.  And yes, Mass Effect is phenomenal.  Get the DLC too.  Its worth the $$.

Cool.

When is it coming out for the PC?

hey roomtenonine nice avatar - The Ripper. Too bad powell couldn't survive the Rocco era.

Anyway, I too agree with mgs4 being just an interactive movie. That was on the the things that stopped me from playing after the first act. I know what your going to say..."just skip the movies"... but I do enjoy a good story. The whole cutscene every five seconds ruined the earlier MGS games on ps2 for me.

Powell is alive and well my friend.  Check out my current ride (and no it isn't vintage...those stay in my garage on the wall...this is brand new and modern tech, just old "pool" style)

Agreed.  I got very impatient with it and it took a couple tries to play through.  I'd rather just watch a CGI movie of it all.

That looks a bit like my friends JFA board back in '86. Wasn't the original with those graphics actually a bit shark-shaped? I think my other skate buddy one with those graphics, and it was a mid-size, sorta combo ramp/street, board.

Yeah, this is the original Ray Rodriguez deck shape...snub nose pool deck.  They later made "Skull and Sword" decks for street and freestyle with the same graphic, but not w/ Ray's name.  The later models also had the Ripper in Wings emblem on top, not the Powell-Peralta dragon.

They did this a lot once the sport caught on.  Look at the 3 shapes of Caballero decks for one series of art.  There was a pool, a street and a mini shape for several of his deck art designs.  I had 2 of the 2nd gen Cabs, the "Batman Dragon".  One was a street deck and the other a mini.  Check it:

I am not too impressed by it. music is terrible(nothing like all like mgs games). most of the tracks are so generic and random.  and boss characters are complete failure. these "chicks in random body armor suit" arent that great. its ok if it was just 1 but ALL 4 of them are basically same. they all have same "traumatic background story". ocelot doesnt even have his "cool factor" anymore. he sounds kinda retarded. snake sounds weird too.

its a good game but I expected more/better. gameplay was little TOO simple/easy. its mostly go from here to there and boss fights were cake walk.
