jamma wiring, probably stupid, but I'm stuck...
« on: July 28, 2008, 11:08:22 pm »
Greetings!

I have listed my 60-in-1 pinout, plus the jamma adapter layout from bob roberts site (where my harness is from is from)
Now, for the most part I understand how everything works, but I'm somewhat confused with the minor details.

lets start with power..
On the power bundle of my icade pinout, do I have to hook the following to my 15v. power supply?
+5 on 3 (parts side),+5 on 3 (solder side),
+5on  4 (parts),+5 on 4 (solder)?

so would that make a total of four +5 wires going to the power supply?
that doesnt seem right.. hmm.

same thing with the grounds. Do I hook all 4 grounding wires from the pinout to my power supply?

also, I know that one of 12+ v. is now bundled with my coin door.

im taking a stab at this and guessing that I only hook one of the pins (say pin 3 on parts side for +5)

--

ok, dumb jamma question 2!
I've hooked up a mame setup to a keyboard encoder and have piggybacked the ground to a central block (all connected with 1) then to the encoder..
How will I be hooking up the grounds from this arcade setup? Do I connect the grounding circuits on my controls and then run the appropriate gnd wire to the jamma board gnd?

confused...

No, that sounds right.  Four for ground, four for +5V.

Really, it's not that big a deal.  Your power supply likely has two ground screws.  What gets kind of tight is the +5V, but just double the wires going to the connectors.

You could also use a little .50c distribution block. Run 1 wire from Power Supply to the block, and then the 4 wires from the block.

Some good reading:

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, thank you. When you say double the wires, do you mean literally combine them with one spade connector, or just double the sades up when they get to the PS?

I actually purchased bob's drop-in power supply, that diagram is pretty much identical.
thanks for the links.

Two wires in one connector.
