my N64 collection so far
« on: July 23, 2008, 06:50:12 am »

had a few glitches with some of the games when i took the machine over to a friends last week. perfect dark in particular. so last couple of days i gave them all a good clean. and the contacts in the console including the expansion pack- used one of the specially shaped cleaners for the console itself. now everything is cleaned up, i thought i should count how many carts i have...

That's just about my dream collection of N64 carts.  Good work.  I hope you have four controllers with well functioning analog thumbsticks.

I still play blast corps here and there it was one of the best for that console.

I think conkers is considered a collectors piece now and one of the more rare one's.

I think that was listed as the second most rarest and first place went to worms armageddon.

By who?  Just curious.  I found a bunch of Worms Armageddon but only ever found two complete CF Sculptor's Cut games.

I notice you have pokemon snap.  Other decent pokemon titles are Stadium 2 and Puzzle League for the mini games and a more enjoyable tetris like game (to me at least).

Shadows of the Empire is an amazing game and I may actually play through again now that you reminded me about it.

Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

yeah, it looked interesting when i tested it. so far the game i have played the most is goldeneye. im on level 16 at the moment. i really want to get into each game fully, but so many games so little time! however, the manager handed me a leave application form today (a subtle hint to actually take some i guess) so guess what im going to do on my approximately two weeks break  ;D

It is for hardware and pretty much everything except the super rare stuff.  That game is definitely the hardest to get complete.  It was a Blockbuster rental exclusive that Corporate ordered the stores to destroy instead of sell used when they were done with it.

I did a google search to see which one's were the rarest and seen worms and clay fighter in the top ranks in a few list I had found.

I even got the Conker's shirt.  ;D

I digress, the game is really interesting, but the camera is absolutely maddening. I got so frustrated navigating the tunnels I had to quit before I smashed the cart.

Nice.  That is very similar to my collection.  Only thing I'd add would be Banjo Tooie and the gold cart Zeldas.

Conker's is a seriously underrated game... I really enjoyed it.  Those of you who don't have an N64 setup anymore should give the Xbox version a try... obviously Xbox games are a little easier to come by now.   :)

I just started my collection today. your post made me miss my n64 system way to much.  Just left ebay after buying

Conkers Bad Fur Day, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Rayman 2, Starfox, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie,
Blast Corps, Wave Racer, Donkey Kong 64, Cruisin USA, Cruisin World, Gauntlet Legends

Its not a bad start I dont think. I still need both Zeldas as well as Super smash brothers though. Maybe if I see a deal on the pair of em together.

Most of the rare games are only rare because some of these games were released at the end of the console's life and were passed by when the Dreamcast came out.

i dont think thats very accurate. super mario 64 was released early in the consoles life.  it sold millions of copys. the  used market should be flooded. yet it still sells for 15-20 dollars all the time. perfect dark sold millions of copys as well. yet it sells on ebay for 2.99

the games that are the most expensive are all popular a+ title main stream games. conkers, banjo, harvest moon, mario 64, zeldas, super smash bros, mario party.

you wont find those games for 5 bucks the demand for these is to high. maybe if you watch and watch and wait you will get lucky and find a clueless seller.

I just dont see any effect of release date effecting price. at all. its all over the place.

I meant as far as rarity, at the end of the N64'S life, the latest games were never bought and so those games became much more rare to find. I don't mean what price the game sold for then or could sell for today, but the last 10-12 games ever released for the N64 were just not bought by many people and so there are not many to go around now.

I think with the last round of released N64 games it was a choice of buying a new N64 game or buying a new and improved console, many chose to stop buying N64 games and went to the next gen of consoles and in affect made some of these games that never circulated in the market become rare.

An example of this would be with the Gamecube, when the cube ended it's production many traded that system in for the Wii, most of the latest released GC games were never seen and forgotten about.  If those games were never bought and forgotten about, there were not many bought and they are hard to find today.

Clayfighter Sculptor's Cut sells for over $100 complete.  There are 4-5 other games that are also expensive because of rarity.  The most expensive games on the Gamestop/used store circuit are the first party games, this is true, but they're not the most expensive N64 games on the overall market.

Seeing that post censored made me go through the trouble of logging in. good show!

The N64 is the only console ive ever regretted selling due to the collection I had going, though it did pay for half of my 360. The first three Mario Party games that I paid 50 cents a piece for at a garage sale sold for 40 bucks on ebay....
