Looks like this cabinet is of the particle board persuasion, and it's a little fat getting it up the stairs (and landings) to my apartment.

Any idea how these cabs were assembled, and if there's any way of disassembling them?  I would just as soon take it up in pieces and put it back together at the top as opposed to lugging it up, and risking damaging the panels.

Hope you guys can help!  And thanks in advance.  In the mean time, I may plan to take the guts out so that I'm working with JUST cabinet.

Get someone on the top, someone on the bottom and lift it up.  DK cabs aren't that heavy.

edit: you said particle board...do you mean like MDF, or that woodchip stuff?  If it's woodchip, that's stuff is really light, and you should be able to lift it just fine with a helper.  If not, get more help.  :D

No worries.  We took some of the heft out of it by removing the monitor and board.  We were pretty much able to lift it up above our heads at that point, so we're good to go!

I'm only 5'7" and about a buck 25 wet, so it was no easy task for me!  But alas, we did it.

I'll get more pics up soon..I'm currently cleaning up the joystick a bit and replacing the DK Jr CPO w/ the original DK overlay...

Well AFC, I don't think I've said it before now (I've followed the thread since the beginning), but congratulations! You know there are a LOT of very envious people here! One day I hope to own a DK since it's my all time favorite (my 6 yr old son says I need to practice other games because I play DK too much).

Hey guys, can anyone assist me in locating the Z80 chip on a DK 4-board set?  I'm wanting to install a high score / free play kit so that I don't have to continually feed it quarters or open the coin door and tap the credit button, but I want to make sure I can get to the chip, as they're sometimes soldered on the 4 board sets.

Thanks in advance!

Ahh - you just need to do a bit more cab lifting and moving.

t-molding arrived thursday.  At this point, I should give a shout out to my amazing wife, who has not only been super tolerant of my arcade machine obsessions, but was also gracious enough to surprise me with a brand new cam lock for the coin door (fits like a glove, too!).
