RCA & S-Video Extension Cable?
« on: July 14, 2008, 12:20:05 pm »
Howdy-

After looking into various switchbox & other options, I've decided that the easiest way to hook up my classic consoles is to run an extension cable to the back of my receiver.

This cable should have 3 male RCA jacks (red, white, yellow) & 1 male S-Video jack on 1 end, and a female set of the same on the other end.

So this saves me from having to dig blindly at the back of my receiver when connecting & disconnecting different consoles, by essentially moving that set of connectors out to an easily-accessible place (no, my darn receiver has 3 RCA ports & an optical audio port on the front, but no darn S-Video...).

Know where I can find such a product?  I haven't had any luck yet.

Thanks,
-Jason

Bingo!  I was told that RS had such a product, but you're a better searcher than I.   :-[    <---That's me blushing & embarrassed.

Thanks,

No prob.

I think I may get one too, as it does look like a great solution for the old consoles that aren't hooked up permanently anymore.

I had thought about doing it before, but didn't really want the loose cables. This thing is all in one nice little casing that can just be tucked to the side when not needed though, so you don't have to worry about the s-video cable falling behind when you pull the others out. :)

Yah, it looks very tidy & clean--easy to tuck away or even attach to a stereo component w/ double-sided tape or velcro or a small bracket perhaps.

I've got a "floating" wall-mount rack for my stereo & TV, so I could actually tuck one of these on the bottom of my receiver & it would look/act much like another set of front inputs.
