EmuMovies NES Video Snaps HiQ/SQ v2.0 Released
« on: July 13, 2008, 03:56:38 am »
First off I would like to welcome a new member to the EmuMovies team, Keno!! Keno is the 3rd contributor to the project and we are very excited to have him on board.

As many of you know the NES video set was the set the began the EmuMovies project way back in 2005. It was also horrible, as it was the attract mode of each game. I guess real attract modes were not so big on the NES because many of them were just a title screen and music. Real Exciting……… Keno took it upon himself to redo the whole set, the results are just fantastic. There is an HQ and SQ version of the set and it is in the No-Intro naming format. You can find this new set on the Nintendo NES Page under The Console Collections section.

Since the new video set was added I decided to finish the entire NES set.  I have just completed and added Snaps, Titles, Carts, Boxes & Manuals.  These are very complete sets and all share the no-intro naming convention along with the videos.  All of these goodies can be found on the NES page of the Console Collections section of the website.

As far as a torrent, any free site that I post it on will only last a week or two (I have experience with this) but if my bandwidth gets freed up here soon I may post a limited time torrent later for the videos.

You'll have to forgive my ignorance but is the torrent the same as the FTP?  I downloaded NES movies on the FTP a week or so ago.  Are these new ones available on the FTP?  Should I bother with downloading the new NES movies?  Also, what naming system do you use?  I was trying to match them up with my good tools named NES roms and have been unsuccessful.

Thanks

FTP - File Transfer Protocal is basically a direct download from my own private server, torrents are P2P.  The old NES set is just intros, not much gameplay, the new NES set is mare like all of my other sets, lots of gameplay :)  As far as naming the new set uses the No-Intro the old ones were an older variation of the goodtools naming convention, you can always open up a couple of explorer windows and just rename them.

BTW I just added all of the N64 artwork as well - Snaps, Titles, Carts, Boxes and Manuals. :)

Hey Circo, I've got a question about the no-intro naming that you're using..... I see that you've named SMB3 as "Super Mario Bros. 3 (U)(v0).avi" but I haven't been able to find that specific name in any of the no-intro dat files.  I've spent hours trying to rename my roms to match up with your new videos but I just haven't figured it out yet.  I got my dat file from http://www.no-intro.org/datset.htm  Is there something I'm missing here?  Thanks for all of your hard work on this!

its a no intro set that goes back over a year ago, I made a mistake and thought I was using a newer set.  As it effects over 3500 files I am currently working on a solution to this issue with frequency.  In the meantime it could take a little bit of manual renaming, but hopefully soon all of the sets will get a heck of a lot more user friendly as far as the naming goes. /crosses fingers
