I have a setup that goes like this
p4 2.40 ghz 512 of ram what is the best software to use to run mame and snes,nes on i will be using a ipac 2 for button configs.
gameex runs to slow this is for a arcade in a box build i am making

GameEx is likely running like a dog due to the amount of RAM that your system has. Most FE's + overhead + Emulators are going to perform poorly with low system specs and minimal RAM. You'd see significant performance boost by adding another 512MB of RAM.

There are some optimizations you can do in the GameEx Setup Wizard that will improve performance considerably too. There were some issues with some video drivers although I think most of them have been sorted out now. For my Radeon 9800 Pro I have to use an older driver to get decent performance. I think the later versions of the Catalyst driver for that model of card screwed up DirectDraw somehow.
