I'm almost done with my sitdown cabinet. I just need to add the molding on the bottom of the cabinet. I havent seen too many sitdown style arcades being built, so I really had no ideas to work off of. If anyone has built anything like this, let me know. I would love to get ideas and see what other people come up with.

That's fantastic. Do you find that you can play most MAME games, or is this a console rig?

Looks great. Inspiring too. However, I am surprised you don't have a PC in there. What type of switch did you get? Svideo or RCA? If you have the space, you should try to jammallama a PC in there. I don't know if the USB to Playstation adaptors work on the PC while connected to a wheel, but if they do, you could utilize the same wheel for PC games.

Where is the Air conditioning mod? You got the phat bass 'n der? Awww ya

He has a ps2 a dreamcast and atari 2600 hooked upto the tv by using a A/V selector

Sounds like a great idea but the steering wheel is a pc 1 yeah? then u just make an adapter for it to plug into the dc and ps2 unless u got a steering wheel and pedals that work on both systems

Looks cool i wanted to make 1 but i would get 1 of them plastic F1 Cars and mount the TV in the Cockpit where the Visor is but i have to finish off my normal arcade first

Actually, I would like to add a PC, I just need to get another one (I'm all out of spares). The good thing about the Logitech wheel is that it is a USB connection. It plugs into the USB port of the Playstation2. What's even better, is that the Logitech wheel for the PS2 also works for the PC since it is USB. I was told that the Logitech wheel for the PC is the same as the PS2 one. You just need to download the drivers for the PC. It actually works!! I am also trying to get the Mame emulator for the Dreamcast to work, but I am better off just putting in a PC since the steering wheel will be compatible with it anyway. The video switcher I have is RCA and Svideo (Not bad for $20 bucks). It also has RF In and Out so that you can hookup cable TV or output it to your TV's RF inputs for the older style games like Atari. I have to say that the cabinet makes games sound amazing!! I guess because it is enlcosed and all the sound stays contained inside. You also dont get any of the outside room noise (not much anyway) The bass is awesome with just a plain Aiwa 2 speaker 1 subwoofer soundsytem that I had from an older PC. I guess the enclosed cabinet also helps make the bass sound bigger. Thanks for the feedback

Im not sure which adapter you are talking about? If you mean the steering wheel, no adapter is needed. The Logitech Force Feedback wheel for the PS2 is actually a USB cable that plugs into the USB port of the Playstation 2 which are located near the regular gamepad ports on the console. You just need to download the Logitech Force Feedback drivers for the PC if you want it to work on a PC.

I dont know what kind of switch it is. I threw out the packaging and it doesnt say on it. I bought it at Best Buy, and I've also seen the same ones at Gamestop and EBgames. It has 5 inputs each consisting of:
1 video in
2 audio in (LEft and right of course)
1 S-video in

Then it has 1 set of outputs which have:
1 video out
2 audio outs
1 S-video out

Then it also has RF in and RF out. You can choose to use the Line Out feature (RCA or S-video type) for newer TV's. Or use the RF out which is your usual cable connection that it will modulate to either channel of your choice 3 or 4. I have the Atari hooked up to the RF in because as you know, the Atari 2600 does not have separate audio and video outputs. Here is a pic of the switcher. Whatever company made it, tried to make it look very much like a Playstatio2.

The DC MAME stuff isn't really worth it : ( After all the hassle the DC only has the power of ~ 133 Mhz PC. Just throw a PIII 450 in there... it really needs it. The video switcher thing is made by pelican. I've got two of them daisy chained to my tv and they seem to work pretty well, especially considering they're only $20 a piece. Any BestBuy, Gamestop, or Electronics Boutique should have them.

OMG I am gonna be ripping off this idea so bad......I got a spare 27" TV and I hate playing driving games because it just doesnt' "FEEL RIGHT"!! GAH! BUILD A CAB! ****OF COURSE****!!!

Question: When you fire up the dreamcast, what wheel do you use.......did you buy a DC wheel and swap it out?

I use the PS2 for the driving games. I dont have any driving games for the Dreamcast, and I havent seen too many wheels for the DC either, at least not as good as the Logitech Force Feedback wheel. The force feedback makes all the difference! I highly recommend it. I basically just use the Dreamcast for the Lightgun games such as House of the Dead2.

Crazy Taxi, Crazy Taxi 2, San Francisco Rush, Lemans 24, Ferarri 255 Racing, the assorted "heat" games from Midway..4x4, the boat racing game.....lotta race games on that system, and they're pretty good too...Burnout...a bunch others.....you dont need a wheel for em, of course, but it does make all the difference.....I dont think they have a FF wheel, but I gotta try to track down some junky ones....OH Daytona USA, I'm sure there are others

I have some PS2 to DC adapters and I'm trying to get the wheels to work...but..so far..so-so response.

I forgot all about those games for the DC. Thanks for the info. Thats one of the things I love about the DC, there are tons of great games and the price is just right! I recently picked up a used copy of Midnight ClubII for the PS2. It works very well with the Logitech wheel. I still use the cabinet for playing regular PS2 and DC games with a regular controller. But right now I have really just been playing the driving games because I am so impressed with how well they play in the cabinet. But regular games play well also with the regular controllers. The only downside is when 2 players want to play, someone has to sit outside the cabinet. Oh well, the real purpose for building it was for a driving cabinet anyway. Sorry Player2.

Just a thought on Dreamcast wheels.

Act Labs is closing out the Playstation RS wheels and pedals for 9.99. Just get the 4.99 Dreamcast "cartridge" and you are set. Basically, you replace the cartridge in the back and can run it on either PSX or DC.

Great quality for 9.99. They sold for around 60 or 80 originally. Very nice for the closeout price.

Dimensions.... we need dimensions..... Obviously the width is going to be dictated by the width of the target tv (or seat whichever is smaller), but what about height, and length?

, very nice factory seats. side and shoulder support, and adjustable lumbar.

im just finishing up my cab, and id be all over this if i wasnt in an apartment. but if i put them side by side id probly fall through to the 1st floor.
