Should I rejuvenate this monitor? Mitsubishi XC-3717C
« on: July 07, 2008, 03:19:13 pm »
I bought a Mitsubishi XC-3717C a while back that was very blurry.

I adjusted the focus controls and it is a lot better now but whenever I turn the monitor on or change resolutions the image becomes blurry, dim, and unstable.  Sometimes if it gets really  bad I can see little sparks on the back of the neckboard.

After a while it gets better, but still intermittently goes dark and blurry for second or two every 30 seconds or so.

It seems the longer I leave the monitor on in the same resolution the less this problem presents itself.  Still, I would like to fix it.  Every once in a while I can see it get bright and clear, and when it does that it looks absolutely amazing.  I want it to do that all the time.

I talked to a technician at my local repair shop, Bobby Jones Electric and described the symptoms to him.  He recommended trying to rejuvenate the picture tube, but also warned that this could destroy the tube.

What do you guys think about this option?  What are some other things I should look at or try first?

I do not know what would cause your symptoms and I am no expert when it comes to monitors but I have read alot about them recently, to address your question about a rejuv.....
I remember reading that Ken has mentioned that a rejuv can fix focus issues, and that when you do do a rejuv the tube should be facing down and should be left in rejuv mode for 24 hrs, he says that this will help the rejuvenated tube last longer.

Thanks for the input.  I will probably be paying someone to do this for me, since I don't have a rejuvenator or the technical knowledge to use one.

Does 68$ sound like a reasonable fee?
