Hi, I'm just finishing off building a new cab, all's going well except for the control panel.  I've had a vinyl print done onto 1mm foam board, which I've sandwiched between plexi glass and mdf.  Problem is when I tighten the buttons, I get marks appearing between the vinyl and the plexi glass.  It looks like trapped grease/oil etc, however I clean both sides really well, even with some washing up liquid and am very careful putting it back but it's still there!  Any solutions/ideas - as at the moment getting pretty frustrated and my next control panel will skip the plexi unless I can think of a solution!

Hope somebody has some good ideas....

Guess it's only me then!

Have put the artwork on top instead (plexi underneath otherwise depth is wrong for t-molding) and just hope it wears ok

It sounds like the plexi isn't laying flat against the vinyl and there are air bubbles trapped in between... can you take a photo of it?

You should get a print on a different medium. You'll get the same with some photo-papers for inktjet or real photopaper prints in a photo store. It has to do with fluids in the vinyl. The best is to use a matte medium to print on, regular paper for example.

sorry, didn't take a photo before I changed it but......

Blanka - I think that's probably it - cleaned it too well to be any grease etc.  I just got it done down the regular print shop and asked for it to be glossy.  It was probably printed on glossy vinyl and I then got them to stick it onto foam board.  It must be an issue with the fluids in the ink.

Next time, will tell them what I need it for and maybe they'll have a different solution e.g. matt paper as you suggest,

Many thanks,
