Non-Mame games for arcade cabs
« on: June 24, 2008, 05:38:56 am »
I have Mame and a couple of console emulators set up on my newly built cab (via Mala), but has anyone got any suggestions for PC games that work well in an arcade cabinet? Anything spinner-friendly would be a bonus.

Revolt - Racing game you can get it for free its Abandon ware.

Tiger Woods - If you have a trackball.

There is also a gauntlet type game I cant remember the name Medieval something.  Thats fun for up to 4 players.

Try Trackmania Nations.

It's a really sweet arcade style racing game with a large selection of tracks to race on.
You can play it with a keyboard, controller, or driving wheel.
It's also got an online mode, so you can race against others along with a track editor
so you can build your own tracks.

It's also free.

Wow. Those screens look great! I gotta check that out at home later! THANKS!

Edit: Heh, two years later and I just now "discover" this game and try it. Can't believe I forgot about this post.

Anyone Tried Diablo 2, or any of its clones?  These type of games would be really fun on a cabinet, but may be hard depending what type of custom controls the games allow.

The LEGO Star Wars games are awesome on my cab. They would be a tiny bit better with analog joysticks, but they function just fine without. Plus, there is LEGO Indiana Jones now, and a LEGO Batman in the works. I highly reccommend them.

Man what a great find. I love this game. I am thinking it would be cool to race someone in the same room on 2 dedicated sit-down cabs with this game, but everything I read says it is harder to play with a wheel. But I am thinking if both players are using one it would be ok. This might be the game that I build my dual racing cabs around. The only thing I don't like is no collision detection with other cars, but all the other aspects make up for it.

Anyone Tried Diablo 2, or any of its clones?  These type of games would be really fun on a cabinet, but may be hard depending what type of custom controls the games allow.

The only problem with that is that a keyboard is need to check inventory and stuff, but I am not sure how many buttons you would need.

Super Mario War is great.  I have it on the modded Xbox and on my cabinet.  The kids love it, its customizable and a blast for 2-4 players.  You can even use gamepads so I can have two kids using the joys buttons on the CP, while up to two more play on 360 controllers.

It's free and legal which makes it one to check out.

armagetron, a 3D tron clone
http://www.armagetronad.net/

has customizable controls, you can play online or set up split screen on one pc. Works pretty good in my cabinet.

for diablo like clones  Fate is pretty  good if  simple    and  theres  darkstone.

and depending  who's  all going  to be playing  on the cab   reflexive has  some very good coffee break arcadey games    i recommend  rocket bowl and hamsterball   if you have a trackball   .. just make sure to do a  google search for  reflexive stripper  (not  a crack   it  just strips the damn launcher and add popup out of the  exe)  after you've purchased a game. so you can run it directly  from the fe.

and if your into  supporting the indie /freeware arena   a good place to  start is http://freeware.remakes.org/  give a good broad spectrum of whats out there

Guilty Gear X2, if you like beat'em ups.

It has a native resolution of 640x480, it's the best looking game I have on my arcade.
