Gun.Smoke Glitch or MAME 125 Glitch ? Level 1, Flying "dragonflies" worth 10,000 points each, this happens randomly as i can't confirm a pattern, currently on Gun Smoke US Set 2, On level 1, every so often i see flying 10,000 point items.. sometimes only 1 or 2, and sometimes even 5! thats an extra 50,000 points on level 1, this has happened to me various times on coin 60? i think 90, 158, 204 ? 218 ? respectivly in book keeping. Not sure if anyone else has seen this, if it happens again,  :dunno I will try to record a video of it when it happens again.. im sure it will this has also happened on Gun Smoke World set.

items look like this:

I put it in slow motion, clearly you can see my points go from 24,xxx to 34,000 when i hit that dragon fly, i missed all the others because it was hard to record with one hand , and play with my foot hehe... but at least thats proof, this time coin # 249 (US Set 2)

Youtube I uploaded :

ok, so not sure if this is a reset / or kill screen so to speak, but aparently ive found that the dragonflies come about every 15 coins aprx and each time 1 dragonfly gets added, ive seen any where from 10 - 12 of these getting you about 150,000 points on the first board! usually average person ends at about 30,000 on the first board. And brings me now to another "glitch"... reset screen ? once the dragonflies maxed out at about 12 or so.. i was on the last stage.. 10 with the three brothers, and on my High Screen score I had over 1,500,000 on 1-5.. and while about to beat the game the game just flat out re-set itself back to ..If you are playing this game in Japan you are involved in a criminal act...etc.. and "ROM" as the High Score of 110,000 on US Set 2 ? is this a glitch or is this a dip switch so that the highscore gets automatically reset after many coins ? But this was during game play! :dunno

After the game "reset" itself.. the dragonflies dropped down to 1.. then after about 15 coins went to 2, then after another roughly 15 coins went to 3 etc.. this is all on level 1, when the first dudes that toss dynamite at you.. roughly you should have about 4,000 points very early stage 1

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
So, I used to play Gunsmoke arcade back at school in the late 80s.  The dragonflies DID happen occasionally on the real game too.  Have been playing around with my arcade I built during COVID with recent ROM set.  Yesterday was the first time I saw the dragonflies on my MAME emulator and it made me go "Oh yeah!, that crap happened back in the day too!"

Could never replicate it back when I played but was trying to push up on the screen where - like you said - the first dynamite guys show in level 1.  Having it happen randomly based on plays makes more sense because I could never "make" it happen based on game actions.

glad you posted this - I looked today to find out if, with the Internet, someone had finally posted how to make those effers show up!
