first mame cab, The green machine
« on: June 14, 2008, 11:20:04 pm »
I got a very ugly abused cab off of a guy from craigslist about two months ago and was stuck as for ideas. The cpo was an unusual five button setup (see time killers) and one of the joysticks was missing a dust washer and actually bent twenty degrees. After gutting the cpo and, dont hurt me, cutting out the center, I fabricated a new cpo to mount over the frame with a more conventional six button arrangement. I recently found ridiculously cheap Happ three inch trackballs and decided this needed including. I made a new cpo out of quarter inch plexiglass and managed to fit two joysticks, twelve buttons, and a centered trackball (barely). But I was still at a loss for design. Until today. At a yard sale I picked up a one hundred and fiftey foot by twenty inch roll of bright green adhesive vinyl for ten dollars! I plan on covering the cpo in vinyl, replacing the black t-molding with alien green (care of groovygamegear) and getting an all new set of black buttons and black Happ competition joysticks. An alien green theme seems best at the moment :D

Just put some effort and it should turn out great, if this is your first cabinet, just don't get lazy and try to do your best, I will feel better about every little detail you add to it. have you plan what your theme is going to be? may be the Mean Mame Green Arcade Machine? if you are gonna look for some new T molding I would recomend get it from T-molding.com they have most size patterns and colors.  good luck in your project. hope you can get more pictures up soon.

And remember, pick out some free samples of t molding first from www.tmolding.com . If your going to go all green, try orange yellow silver and black. Those could look sweet.

stuff came in from groovygamegear  ;D ;D
Green T-molding, green Happ competitions, and black buttons.
I also stopped by active surplus and picked up a few super bright red leds and hacked them into my existing illuminated buttons. I got a neon bar for ten bucks that im not sure what ill do with, maybe an underlight? So, what should I make my marquee? any ideas?
