soft15hz twin graphics cards.
« on: June 14, 2008, 09:36:44 am »
hello from the uk  ;)

im in the processe of building a multi emulation box with mame as the main reason for doing it.

im using a 2.4ghz c2d and iv just fitted it all in this wonderfull case

i have all my emulators and front end mamewah working fine now i just need to be ale to run it on my scart tv!

iv been reading up on soft15khz and as i already have a graphics card that it supports i see no reason to spend so much money on an arcadevga ( althought its an amazing card)

basicaly iv messed about with soft15khz and installed it but when i reeboot my pc it says ( outt of monitor freq range) and i have to go into safe mode etc. so pc monitors cant accept 15hz?

now this is where im after some advice.my motherboard has intergrated graphics which dose not work with soft15khz and i have a pci card that dose, now can i use my intergrated graphics as my main display for booting up mame and can i then install soft 15hz on my pci card and switch from intergrated to my pci 15hz via windows?

im quite confused about it and hope my post actualy makes sense, when you install soft 15hz dose it only install on the display driver aka gpu you are currently using in windows? ie i install it on my pci gpu and can switch via windows from 15hz pci to normal intergated?

that way i could perminatly leave my pc monitor and my tv conneted to the pc and just switch between them as i plz ant not have to worry about damaging either as the tv will be connected to the card with soft15hz installed and the pc on normal intergrated.

hope this makes sence and hope someone can clarifiy this will work

thanks a lot!

Read the soft15 thread and documentation, the wiki on monitors, and my thread on using a PCI card to bypass boot screens (as there is a post on using integrated video instead). Nice box, by the way.
