Galaxian 3
« on: June 07, 2008, 07:23:51 pm »
has anyone ever seen one of these?

do you know how many were made, or where any are left?

is this emulated (not the ps1 version)?, or has anyone been able to own one?, it looks massive, and I would faint if I had the chance to get one.

does anyone know how the controls are interfaced, one of those controllers would seem to be an absolute gem to me

I searched and saw no mention of it so here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxian_3

I found out about that, but even before I knew I kind of assumed there were none of those left

Yup, I was privileged to see some of the parts of Darth Nuno's G3.

He's now working on doubling the size of his gameroom (as he calls it V2) and after that he plans V3 which will house the Theatre.

I've played this game once in London. Great fun.

I played one as a kid at the Grand Casino in Hinkley, Minnesota. That would have been in 1993 or around there. They had a huge ass arcade to keep kids entertained while the parents blew huge wads of money.  ;)

I think they used to have it at the San Jacinto Mall near Channelview, TX. Could be mistaken (might've been a different mall). I just recall getting to play at least once.

(Edit: Different mall? Yeah, in a different state! Thanks Witchboard)

I'm closer to Grand Casino Mille Lacs, just down the road from Hinckley and the casinos arcades are pretty similar. It was usually disappointing, not many classics over the past 10 years. However (FYI) Grand Casino Mille Lacs now has a Mario Bros/Donkey Kong/DKJ combo, Ms Pacman/Galaga combo, and the Space Invaders/Qix Deluxe edition. I'm assuming Hinckley has the same (well we can hope they do).

They used to have one at Crossroads Mall in OKC.  This was a long time ago and it was rarely working when it was there.

AH! That's where it was! It wasn't in Houston!

I forgot about them having it at Crossroads. I used to love that arcade, particularly the quiet area off to the right that had the older games. Last time I went to that mall (in April), I didn't get to visit the arcade.

Thanks for refreshing my memory!

Big, and practically empty nowa days.  The upstairs part where all the classics used to be is now blocked off and there's broken equipment everywhere.  It's a shell of it's former self.

Kinda figured as much. I knew last time I went that if I did go in there, I'd be disappointed for sure.
